Emergency & Critical Care
If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, contact Lakeside Pet Hospital as soon as possible to describe the situation. Calling ahead allows our team to prepare for your arrival and deliver prompt, focused care from the moment you walk through the door.
Our hospital hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We are closed on Sunday. For life-threatening emergencies outside these hours, go immediately to the nearest 24-hour veterinary emergency hospital and call ahead for current wait times and directions.
Handling an Injured or Distressed Pet
Please use caution when approaching an injured or frightened pet. Even the most gentle and familiar animals can behave unpredictably when in pain or distress. To protect both yourself and your pet:
- Approach slowly and stay calm, sudden movements can escalate fear
- Gently wrap your pet's head in a soft cloth or towel to help limit movement and reduce the risk of biting
- Always ensure your pet's airway remains clear and unobstructed
- Do not attempt to wrap or muzzle your pet if they are vomiting, gasping, or showing any signs of breathing difficulty
When to Seek Immediate Help
Do not wait if your pet appears seriously ill or injured. Timely emergency care can make a meaningful difference in your pet's comfort, available treatment options, and overall outcome.
